Is it possible to brick an Apple TV?

I own a 40 GB Apple TV and have installed Boxee using ATV Flash (simple).

I would like to add Couch Surfer (to access HULU directly, for example) with Adobe Flash Player.

I'd also like to add Slingplayer (I think via Nito TV).

From my google searches, looks like this involves going into terminal, etc. and seems more involved than Boxee install.

If I make a mistake, can I "brick" my Apple TV, or is Apple software in firmware (?) and ability to restore to factory defaults always an option? And is hard drive purely for media storage (i.e. no operating system on there?)

The operating system is definately on disk. Can you brick it permanently? I suppose if you try hard enough. But as long as you don't wipe out your restore partition, you will be good to do a factory restore if you manage to botch things up.
