Is it possible the 80's were this bad?

What I miss from the 80s was the variety compared to now (nothing close to 60s but still better than now). Anyone could get airtime. Now it's the same cluster of songs all the time. Astley has a great voice.

Yeah, I actually like that song. The video is meh though.

Overall, the music in the 80's was FAR better than the crap we have now, across the board.

full of crap

there are plenty of genres and what not that didn't even exist back then

I like the song, and the video isn't bad - it's funny.

If you want to see the worst that the 80's had to offer try looking for the video to the theme song from Big Trouble in Little China.

uh... one would hope that that is the case

quality of 80s popular music > 00s popular music

you do realize when people see videos of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, linkin park & some other crap-ass emo bands 20 years from that theyre going to ask the same question.

heh, yeah I actually am a big fan of most things 80's (was born in the 80's so I didn't experience them like most) but in the OP I was meaning to specifically point out how goofy the video was. The music is great 😀

Video back in the 80s are funny that way, mostly forgettable. A-ha's Take on me and MJ's Thriller comes to mind.

Rick Astley

i searched rick astley, if this has been posted before i'm sorry you had to be subjected to it twice

edit: and in the same spirit as the first movie i was reminded of this video

If that's the worst video of the 80s then this has to be the gayest video. Possibly the gayest video of all time. It's pretty damned funny to watch though.

This video is credited as having destroyed his music career. Link to actual video.

never seen that...i really don't know what to say. I had to close it after he ripped his shirt off and the close up of his hairless rock bod.

No, the absolute crap you listen to on ClearChannel radio stations is worse than the crap they played in the 80's.

Great music is played daily on my Sirus player, and by independent stations around the nation.

Of course, anyone who really love dthe 80s probably likes hair bands. If so, your opinion is worthless. It doesn't get much crappier than Poison.

Poison has gone on record, on video, saying that they ONLY reason they formed the band and did what they did was to get laid. Which worked very well for them.

Right, which means they admit that they made music crappy enough to appeal to girls who lacked enough intelligence and self esteem to fellate these guys backstage. So, as a guy, you should be proud you like the same music?

todays music blows, 80's and early 90s was alot frickin better than anything out there now. maybe thats just me being sentimental though.

Very good song, and talented singer. As for the swedish song, its not 1/2 bad either, even if the vid is unfortunately influenced by Abba's mega-swedish success.

As for bad vids...come on, this was the beginning of the mtv generation...budgets were often low but artists had to create a video to get on the channel.

Maybe some of the music artists of today should take on poison's motivation. Cause some of poison's songs still hold up today. I mean what do we have to listen to today thats any better?
