Poison wasn't the only hair band. And most of the hair bands could play rings around the lame musicians that make up "metal" today. Not to mention they could sing, and not just growl.
Don't just look at the biggest two or three hair bands. Look at them all. There were some top shelf, and even legendary musicians in some of those bands.

How many of today's "bands" will be thought of the same way 10-15-20 years from now?
Very few.

I'm the one that said it, and what you're saying is NOT what I said.

I said that 80's music across the board was better. That means that when you consider the entire musical spectrum of the 80's vs. now, the 80's were better overall.

Personally, I like rock, pop, metal, and I guess if you want to divide them up that much, hard rock.
Hard rock....80's was better
Pop.............80's was better
Metal..........80's was way better...today's growling crap just sucks..let me hear a guy singing high any day over just yelling or growling, regardless of his hairdo.
Rock..........80's was better.

So in all the categories that I listen to now, the 80's were better.
