Is it possible that my eyes are straining itself out while viewing an LCD?

I don't know whether I am or not. But I'm beginning to wondering if it's possible. Is it? I've had my LCD for two weeks now.

I guess it takes some time to get used to it.

Monitor is a Dell 1901FP and it's running off a ATi Radeon 9800 Pro.

Have you changed the settings at all? You have a 1901FP, right? Should be 1280x1024.

Are you using analog or DVI?

I know that it took me some time for my eyes to not automatically adjust when I bought my LCD - I was just so used to having to adjust my eyes when looking at a regular crt monitor, than when I didn't have to, I got a headache. I have no problems now :)

Yeah I guess that is what could be happening. Oh well. Hopefully I'll get used to this, in fact I have to. LOL.

Put the resolution at what is reccomended by dell - LCD refresh rates are not like CRTS (because with LCDs, there's no refreshing of the image). They are designed to accept a certain refresh rate, anything other than that can distort the image.

What's the highest refresh rate that most people use with a 19" LCD?

I have 75 but I don't want to chance it and damage the LCD. TIA.

So would having it on 75hz hurt the monitor? I have 60 and 70 but I unchecked that box that says to let whatever refresh rate show up.

Well, seeing that every manufacturer generally uses a different refresh rate when designing their LCDs, it's whatever the manufacturer reccomends. Read the manual. When I bought my FP1800, there was a plastic covering over the screen that stated that the lcd was only to be used with a 60mhz refresh rate, there was also a little card that said that, and it was written in 5 different languages over the front of the manual.
