is it possible for my overclocked tbird to be LESS productive?

I oc'd my tbird 900 to 1060 the other night.. I think it might be SLOWER! What gives? is this unheard of.. or is there something up? I'm doing 1060 on the stock heatsink.. temps are 58 after a night of seti.. but my original temps (before blowholes and before oc were 58 anyways) so I don't think that the temp is an issue.. even now.. it's all slow.. hmm.. time for a restart? dammit
(yeah, I know some people will say that 58 is too damn high. but it's an A7V, and they compensate for the thermistor being on the outside.. fifties are more realistic temps for tbirds, and the threshold of an athlon is like 90 or thereabouts, don't remember exactly, and it's 48 in bios and sandra)

Well have you run any benches😱 to verify that it is slower or does it just seem slower?

Might be right on the edge, mine used to start that right before it froze up when I was a bit to high on the overclock, I think most would say thats a bit high on the temps, but a good old fop32/38 would help alot.

I have had that happen with a PIII-450. I would assume you upped the FSB to get the extra MHz. I have seen where memory settings for SDRAM and/or L2 cache have been effected by such a change. If you tweak the BIOS memory settings you might be able to overcome this issue.

You will find that most benchmarks will show higher results as most fit within L1 cache.

Good luck!

Okay.. a restart seemed to have cured it.. the thing that was happening.. is that i have the graphical client running.. and when I was watching it.. it was really slow.. like you can see how fast it's going.. and it looked slow!! The thing is though, that I installed some beta drivers on my AIW radeon.. which disabled the multimedia (ATI driver support IS SUCK!!!) software.. so I uninstalled that software last night, but the uninstall hung.. ctrl.alt.del and an end task fixed that.. or so I thought and went to bed, but I guess it kind of crippled windows.. to where I saw it this morning.. cause it wasn't just seti.. it was everything.. so yeah, after a reboot, it worked fine.. I hope it stays that way.

did somebody say benchmarks?!!!🙂

😱 yea yea, I know I know.. 1.06 ain't no big deal nowadays.. but I'm happier than a pig in sh!t about it 😀, will go for more, once I have duckets for a nice heatsink.. for now, it's gonna be a 80mm 7200 on a shroud.. VRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
