Yes cause De Matteo = hot as hell

The Coupling (the british one, not your crappy American one) = owns 9 out of 10 american shows.

And just for kicks, would that defense stand up in court?

Not piracy. It was free when it aired. It's no more piracy than having your DVR record a show so you can watch it later.

If you upload, it is. If you download, it is. But it's kind of not logically, because it was free to watch, but it's still copyright material, and that doesn't change. Withough adverts it's definately illegal.

Recording tv shows with your VCR is piracy.

No, it isn't. Selling them, public exhibition, archiving, cutting out or skipping the commercials, and a thousand other things are piracy and assorted other 'offences', but simply recording the broadcast and watching it later is not.

You missed the joke wanker. :disgust:

What you intended as a joke isn't, actually.

It IS illegal to record it on your VCR - selling, public exhibition, whatever - does not matter. It's illegal.

The only 'legal' use of a VCR is for home videos you make yourself and for archiving recordings you own on VHS tapes. Sony did take this to court in the 80s when VCRs came out - they argued that the illegal uses of them were so prevalent that the devices THEMSELVES were illegal and sales of them should be stopped. (Obviously, they lost and VCRs where allowed to continue being sold - but only because there were SOME legal uses of them)

Exactly. If you download a DVD-Rip of a TV show, that's piracy. But if you download a tv show you could have watched, then it isn't. It's like if I ask a friend to record 24 while I'm out of town, then watch the tape when I get back. Just... a little different.

*buzzer* Incorrect. So sorry, you lose. But you'll get some lovely parting gifts, and a copy of the home game.

Do a Google for "Time Shifting". It was the key point of the ruling in the Sony case you're talking about.

No, if you record, view it once, then destroy it, it's legal.

I was joking. If you actually took the time to read my previous posts on the first page, you would have saw that. Read before you make a comment.
