Is it payback time for Apple?

No doubt there's a media storm at the moment regarding the iphone 4's antenna issue. Some might say that the media is unfairly exaggerating the issue.

But look at it this way: Apple also acts the same way when they market their products in the first place. There's a lot of hype that accompanies every Apple product. How it's the next best thing since sliced bread and how it's gonna change the world forever. They even criticize other products (think MAC-PC ads) in order to show their products in a good light.

So is it payback time now for Apple? Is it about time they get a share of some of that negative hype and fuss? For sure, it's hurting them to be on the receiving end this time. "We're not perfect". Damn right you're not! So why were you acting like it in the first place?

Now where's that free case that he's handing out now. Does it also protect against crazy Apple fanbois? I think I need one now.

the case is a major detractor for me. i prefer not having those stupid things on a phone. yes, apple messed up. people think they are getting a $30 case for free? lol it only cost like .10 to make it. Steve Jobs needs to do a Toyota style recall on the iPhone.

they also screwed people over with the 2GB plan for the iPad. Die Apple.

Yeah, Apple got owned. They're going to make billions off the iPhone 4, but they got fucked up real good.

I listened to a clip of Jobs speech today. He seemed to be laughing at his customers, playing the clip from a song about how dissatisfied iPhone users could simply return it but probably won't. Very bad form.

whats payback?
no ones returning their iphones.
the ones whining about it most are those who would never buy one in the first place.
its like the lefty blogs who love to hate on palin when most people don't care either way.

apple gets just more disproportionate press for the iphone 4, people will hear they got bumpers for free, and its all going to be forgotten. its like when the first iphone had that price drop and then jobs came out and threw the early adopters a bone after the whining. the iphone only got bigger after that.

Heh...RIM's response is awesome! And spot on.

It most certainly is.

"Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple."

Get back to me when RIM designs a phone that doesn't suck.

My wife has a Blackberry. It looks like something from 2005.

Shrug. It's egg on Apple's face for the moment, but in the larger scheme of things I doubt they'll be hurt too much.

?? The Blackberry is pretty much the phone of choice for business users and enterprise customers. That's what RIM's target audience is and they've done tremendously well at it.

If you don't care, why do you have to respond to everything I say?

It's "3 million sold with a significant design flaw". Enough of a problem for Apple to call an emergency press conference over. The only way Apple can redeem itself in any way is to release an iFix for the iPhone. That means a complete recall of the handsets.
