is it okay to do multiple spyware/virus scans at once?

on a winxp system, is it okay to do (for example) 2 spyware and 1 virus scan at the same time? will it mess up detection rates? are there any other consequenses to this besides taking longer than doing them 1 by 1?

i like to start them all then go to bed for the night..

I'd be hesitant to do that. I have no idea if it's bad or not, it just seems like you shouldn't. You could setup a scheduled task for each program, leaving enough time between them for each to complete.

There is a tiny possibility that they will interfere with each other and plus it slows down the system a LOT. personally i scan one at a time. I tried it before and it seems like it takes much longer than just scanning one at a time.

No
1. Chance of a conflict
2. Would slow them all down

Run one, clean, reboot back into safe mode (optional, but would not hurt), repeat.
