basically the way I want to arrange my living makes my one side of my L shaped couch up against a window... is this a "decorator okay" thing to do?

the only real concerns I'd have is the couch being cold during the winter, and potentially getting wet / mildew-y were you to leave the window open and it rains out.

You always leave space (at least a feet) between the window (or wall) and furnitures and A/V stuff. Just makes it so much easier when cleaning.

as long as the back of the couch is not a lot higher than the sill of the window it should be ok.

I had ours in front of the window, just pulled out 2ft or so.

If you can do that, it'd be ok. If you can't, it'd probably still be ok. ;)

I wouldn't do that, its risky to sit with your back to the window. You would never see the ninjas coming until it was too late.

Sitting on a couch that is backed up to a windows is a perfect target for a sniper.

Seriously though, shouldn't be a big deal.

Quick furniture in front of windows story. My grandparents had a rocking recliner in front of a window, and when I was a little kid, I jumped on the back of it when my grandfather was sitting in it. It rocked ALLLLL the way back and my head went through the window. I remember seeing the edge of their awning on the other side, then springing back forwards. Didn't have a scratch on me though!

It's okay, though, if you have Chuck Norris over for dinner every once in a while, to help scare the ninjas away!!

depends on the size of the room..

if room is small, and the couch is no higher than the lowest pooint of the window, then yes

if room is large, then the couch should be placed 1-2 feet away from the window to give the room a cozier feel.

Keep in mind that if you are moving the TV to oppose the couch it will then be very glarey.

If they were real ninjas, you wouldn't even see them then.

Right. Also people sitting across from you are going to have glare in their eyes when looking your direction. That's what curtains are for though.
