My new apt has a hissing thermostat... it makes the noise constantly and it is is fairly loud.

Is there any danger from that? (I think thermostats have mercury in them). What causes it?

The only danger would be is if your controls compressor sucked in a lot of toxic material say sulfuryl fluoride (2699-79-8) from a nearby pest control proccess. Even then the volume pissing out is very infinitessimal.

There is no danger to speak of. It's fine. :)

Pneumatic thermostats only make a hissing noise when they are leaking. You can fix it with duct tape quite easily.

I dumped my pneumatic thermostat for a hydraulic thermostat that requires no electricity. It is fed by a five gallon bucket in the attic that I only have to refill once a year.

If you have an old fashioned low voltage DC thermostat that is making noise you can repair it by removing the cover and licking the internal circuitry while grounding yourself to a waterpipe in the kitchen or bathroom.

I would appreciate it if you would name me as beneficiary on your life insurance policy before repairing your thermostat. I need the money.

There!

That ensures a perfect joint every time because all joints look good to the stoned eye. Awright! Take two papers like this lick one edge of the glued edge of one like so and stick it to the unglued edge of the other paper. Then you make a one half inch fold of the unglued edge of the paper in order to make a crease to hold the pot. Then you simply reach into your stash put some marijuana-fresh marijuana into that joint paper and then roll it ala John Wayne in this fashion. Lick the glued edge again and stick it to the joint and presto! You have a first class joint that will draw the envy to everyone that doesn't have one.

Not recently, but I still have your undies from the last time you visited. I was never successful at getting the stains out of the sheets, though. ;)
