I think the lower GPA will impact your ability to find a job much more than the fact that you lost your scholarship.

I lost my scholarship, but the school just increased my financial aid by the equivalent amount so it didn't really cost anything.

I don't remember exactly how all this works, but in general when it comes to paying for college you are rewarded for NOT planning ahead. For example if you save 50k up for college they will just charge you 50k more. I guess scholarships are the same way, if you get a 20k scholarship then the just charge you 20k more.

FWIW, the ability to work at something for 10 hours straight without wanting to gouge your eyes out is just as much a "talent" as having a good memory or reasoning skills.

Also making fun of someone for looking 4 years ahead in life to how they will get a job is silly. If you are college the entire point is to be ready to get a job when you leave, not only does that mean you have to pick a major years in advance of getting a job, but its a pretty good idea to actually think how your actions will reflect on your resume. Maybe you did not go to a place with many ambitious people, but most people i knew freshmen year of HIGH SCHOOL were sculpting out their resume, first for getting into a top college and then a job. For example the summer job I got after my freshmen year was directly related to the job I am currently working 5 years later. This wasn't just random luck, it was PLANNED that way.

And the asian kids took that stuff WAY further. Many of the Indian kids i knew volunteered in hospitals in high school, how they are all in medical school. By the time they actually get a job as a doctor it will be a DECADE away from when then started volunteering at hospitals, and every step along the way was crafted that way in order to land them a very high paying job.

I have a scholarship that requires my yearly GPA be 3.5. I lost it once for a semester I was new to the whole GPA thing, schools where I'm from always dealt in percentages. Apparently GPA's don't round haha. 3.46!=3.50. But yeah, if I thought I was going to loose it again I would probably try to either drop the class or take some summer classes to boost my GPA. School can suck, but sometimes you have to buckle down and do work. Money is money. Loans are money, just because you don't have the money now doesn't mean it isn't real. I have a hard time with that haha.

You will hit a wall, there will be a place whether it's at 3.2 or 3.5 or 3.8 where the amount of work for grade return will skyrocket. You need to decide what's important. Priorities.

At my school once you lose your scholarship due to a too low GPA theres no getting it back period, even if you get your GPA back up.

Also, the reason I tell myself(i know this will sound stupid) for not studying is that what if I studied and got an 88 on the test but didn't study and got an 86, so I'd rather not put forth all the hours for the extra 2 points. Plus tests just seem rigged so that whatever you study they put things on there that you didn't cover enough in your studying... makes you wonder if they can read your mind.

Well, this happens with or without a "computer" degree.

IT people provide end-user support, secure and manage the network, write programs, get called in at 3:00 AM when something does not work, plays database administrator, etc. Very dependent on what the company needs.

This is the problem with grades and the grading system. It teaches people like the OP to be blind idiots and all they focus on is the grade. You should be more concerned with learning and then the grades just fall into place. I went to class to learn, did my homework to learn, and studied to learn, and I graduated with an engineering degree and a 3.8 GPA. I'm not the brightest or best student either. The classes I did poorly in were the ones that I was only concerned with 'getting the grade' and it was in my freshman year. Once I understood that the point of school was to learn and it was going to benefit me for the rest of my life, I got straight As because I studied with a purpose. You need to change your attitude. Expecting to lose your scholarship and planning for it is stupid. Going to college just to say you went to college will not benefit you.

This is so sad. You're right, though. You should definitely not put any effort into anything. That's the right attitude to be successful in life. Do just enough to get by.

As far as how long it's going to take to pay depends if you are working at the McDonald's counter or McDonald's corporate offices 😛

Not to be negative but, it really sounds like you're not ready for college. Scholarship aside, you can do other things to prepare yourself AND make money til you're ready to return.

If you decide you should tough it out, you'll have to force yourself to study even if the difference is only two points because, studying effectively is learned. I'm sure you've already learned that college is nothing like HS.
