It still looks OK. Still soft. No mold.

EDIT: It hasn't even been opened yet.

Perhaps toast it first.

Good idea, but I wanted to use it as a poor mans hotdog bun.
;)

Even better then, when I make hot dogs at home, I always toast the bun :)

No, there's really NOTHING that can harm you with old bread. Prisoners in the old days got moldy bread and water... at least that's how the legend goes. Moldy bread doesn't make you sick. And apparently, your bread is not even moldy.

tell that to christopher reeves
Actually, he went from has-been actor to handi-capable icon.

And he is stronger than ever now that he's on the fetus diet. Not even Hack-man can stop him!

You're right, that was good toasted.

I wonder why they even bother to put a date on it then.

And on a side note...Does anyone ever buy chilli in the can to put on a hotdog? I got it a couple times and it was always lousy. I really love chillidogs so I tried something new this time. Got a can of Hormel chilli with real meat and beans and put it in the blender. Came out creamy and tasted great! I probably wouldn't eat the chilli by itself, but it beats the hell out of so-called hotdog chilli in a can.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for helping me with my "dilemma". I'm lost when my gf is out of town. So many good things around to make, but just soooo damn lazy.

The date is for squeamish Americans who'd run to sue for emotional damage for encountering a hint of mold on a product.
Besides, I am sure that the date is "BEST BY", not "USE BY".
