Is it not possible to utilize scanner parallel ports in Win 2K ?

I have a client with scanners (Epson Expression 636) who wishes to connect them via parallel cables (I will spare you the SCSI story here) to Win 2K systems. It is fairly well known that Win XP will not accept parallel scanner utilization, or rarely, but it surprises me that it seems that Win 2K will not either.

No way can I get the Win 2K to INSTALL the Expression 636. Repeated attempts with uninstalling the existing Epson TWAIN and using the newest Epson website drivers.

This scanner installs perfectly, with the Epson Twain with SCSI in Win2K.
It is true that parallel and Win 2K Epson 636 will not install ?

Thanks,
Jerry

Well, not that this answers your question fully, but my old Visioneer 7100 parallel scanner installed perfectly into my xp pro OS even though the Visioneer site said that this scanner would not be supported. I used the latest existing driver and hoped for the best and - voila! - it worked to my surprise.

Actually, to be more precise, it wouldn't work initially but after a reboot the OS took the scanner driver fine much to my relief. It would say "unable to connect ..." at first but worked it out after the reboot.

this is strange - I've used my Umax Astra 1220P (parallel) with both Win2K Pro and WinXP Pro. that's not even utilizing any special or latest drivers.. just the ones for Win2K I think.

No problem with a Mustek AE3p in 2k, can't get that sucker to work in XP tho as they dont have the driver support for it and their "fix" sucks. 2k is a go for sure tho!

It may be more specific to this Epson Expression 636. It may work on a SCSI basis, which it does beautifully in a separate system, but I will further querry and try.
Thanks.
