The alcohol in the Margarita would get your kidneys going also, so in combination with the coffee, it probably just kicked the kidneys into overdrive for a little while.

Well, so far this morning, I've peed twice - once at 8:00 AM and once at 11:30 AM. And I haven't drank/eaten a thing. Where is all this liquid coming from, and how is gallons and gallons of it being pushed out of my body STILL?

Well, how do you feel other than that? If you feel good, then I wouldn't worry about it. You got a pretty good jolt of caffeine(more than you're used to), and it might take a day or so to get out of your system.

I feel perfect, except that I'm peeing a lot, my stomach is upset, and I'm thirsty. But they say the symptoms of diabetes are peeing a lot and always being thirsy. I wouldn't say I'm "die hard thirsty", but I am getting rid of a lot of water, so I do have the urge to drink a lot of it. But the pee doesn't really smell, it's very clear, and I feel OK other than feeling a bit dehydrated. No racing pulse or anything.

Well the always thirsty part and the almost clear pee part were the way my diabetes started, so you might want to go be tested. I was stubborn and nearly died, you might want to try a different way.

A large and an extra large coffee is A LOT for anyone who doesn't drink coffee. I don't drink coffee and drinking even a small cup will make me have to go a couple times over the next few hours.

Alright.... so I have a doctors appointment on Monday just in case, I assume if I pee every hour all weekend somethings up, but if I return to normal I should be OK.

For what it's worth, I didn't even mention Tuesday or Wednesday because they were the day before, but I had a cup of regular coffee Tuesday night, and two cups of coffee Wednesday, on top of the cups of coffee I had yesterday morning and afternoon. I only mentioned the ones yesterday morning and yesterday afternoon. So coffee over a period of Tuesday/wednesday/Thursday can really still affect you on Friday? I didn't think that caffeine could do that.

Alright, I'll give it till tomorrow, and if I'm still peeing every hour I'll go to the doctors.

I drink a 32oz mug of fairly strong coffee every day, on the times I've skipped it about 5-6:00 p.m. the next day I get a massive headache from caffeine withdrawal. I'm guessing that's how long it takes to work its way out of your system. So about a day and a half, for me. I don't know if your metabolic rate makes a difference or not, but that's how it works for me.

Just because you are pissing a lot one day doesn't mean anything. If you were constantly going to pee over several days, even after laying off caffeine and alcohol then yes you might have a problem. But since you don't usually drink coffee, the sudden input sent your renal system into overdrive. Just keep drinking water at a reasonable pace, you'll return to normal in a bit.

You are peeing from the water; the diuretic impact of caffeine is very, very mild. This is a fact.

They don't do that anymore they just do a blood test.

You're wrong; blood tests may exist, but the OGTT is still important -> For type II diabetes in particular, you want to measure someone's glucose clearance ability (insulin resistance). Plus, there are a few other tests that are can still be performed to measure glucose clearance/insulin resistance/insulin levels.

How did you feel other than that though? Were you thirsty and peeing a lot but otherwise felt normal?

I'd had the flu for a couple of days and felt like crap. VERY tired and run down, and during the three weeks I was being stupid and not going to the Doctor I lost 60lbs. I really don't think you have a problem, but if you're really worried there's only one way to be sure.

Oh wow. THAT much weight?

Yeah, today I've only peed 4 times, but I'm still thirsty as hell. Drinking a gigantic bottle of gatorade, four bottles of water, etc. But my body is retaining much more of it today then yesterday - I'm only peeing once every 3 hours or so instead of once every hour. Is this more normal? I'm still thirsty as hell though - that's what bothers me. And I feel like I have a tickly throat, fever (I don't though), and I'm really tired and my head hurts.

I was peeing alot for about a week, then I day was insane thirsty all day and went to the ER. My glucose was 550 in the ER, diabetes. Be careful and get it checked asap. I now have nerve damage from letting it go too long.

What do you define as insane thirsty? My throat is dry, but it isn't like I absolutely HAVE to keep drinking. And how many times were you peeing per day when you say you were peeing a lot? And how else did you feel?

Caffeine is a pretty weak diuretic, that is why you can drink tea on a hot day - it is hydrating because the volume of fluid outweighs the diuretic effect of caffeine.

Caffeines half life is about 5 hours. However, mixing caffeine and alcohol will increase the diuresis.

Isn't gatorade full of sugar?
The reason you pee lots if you are diabetic is to try and lower your blood sugar, which won't happen if you are drinking sugary drinks.

So are you saying that the fact that this extreme urination only started in a week where I drank 5 large cups of coffee when, any other week, I would drink no cups of coffee, is just a coincidence?

Insane thirsty was wanting to chug a gallon of water. Then 15 mins later wanting another gallon. All I could think of was wow I must be dehydrated from all this peeing I need more water. A week or 2 leading up to that, was peeing maybe once an hour. Not real thirsty but always drinking something. Now diabetes under control might pee 3x day or so. If anyone in family has glucose meter check yourself. If over 160 or so Id say yep you have diabetes. Over 500 it will read HI on meter and means you need to get to ER now. 80-120 would be normal range
