Yeah....there's usually a discussion or a 'baby-naming' party or something.

the two people that made the baby "normally" discuss the baby's name before it is given, in my experience

but my wife had a friend who's husband named thier babies, i guess it all depends
this is the type of stuff that people should discuss BEFORE they get married/make babies

 

Normally, both parties determine the name (or who's going to pick it).

However, if it's a controlling woman, then yes it's normal in her world [to pick a name for her baby].

Or if the father is absent in the picture, then she might in one case name the kid because she couldn't consult the father for a name.

I think it depends on the situation.

If mom and dad are together usually they talk about it. Sometimes one picks the first one picks the middle, they both agree on both.

If dad is not in the picture then why should the mom consult him? Unless he will at some point be in the picture.
