Is it normal during SuperPI

for your screen to go black after a few minutes? This is during testing at 16M both cores at 100%.

e6600 at stock speeds/voltage. No manipulations.

Thanks,

Yes, the screen went into Standby, or Screensaver came on. LOL

But then wouldn't something be moving on it? Ie like the windows XP logo.....A few minutes is too short for it to shut monitor off

well if that is the case then the screen should instataneously reappear when you moves the mouse...OP?

I though by default the screensaver was 10min and the standby was longer. I have built many new systems and I never change this right off the bat and cannot recall this happening to me....

Computer just turned off after a few more minutes- temperatures are too hot..

I checked teh HSF, which is stock intel, reseated, seems to be in there properly. I did not use AS, as I thought it would be OK without.

Anybody familiar with the intel HSF- How do I get the thermal pads off so that I can apply AS. There are 3 "strips" of this stuff.

Its not thermal pads. It is just grease in strips. Wipes off with a simple paper towel. lit bit of alochol will do the job een better. You are not pressing hard enough if the goop has not missed into one single blob.

You don't have your hsf installed correctly... now way should it shut down because of heat running at stock speeds and voltage. Changing to AS is ok, but if you don't figure out why it isn't installed right in the first place it isn't going to help.

As I'm poking around a little, it looks like my problem is (was at this point) related to fan speed. I cranked up the HSF speed and just passed 32M SuperPI simultaneous both cores.. Max temp was 47 degrees which seems pretty reasonable.

Orthos blend passed 3 rounds as a prelim test this AM (here max tems was a little higher, about 53 degrees). Will run overnight tonight.

Do these temps look OK to people?
