Is it neccessary?

Is it neccessary to view a pop-up ad after EVERY action in the forums? I recognize the need for funding, but it just seems counter-productive. You don't want to potentially eliminate the forums usefulness AND destroy a company's image when there may be an alternative.

I mean no offense to anybody. It's just my opinion.
