Is it Micron RAM?

I just purchased a 256 MB module from a place online that said it was Micron. It came with a Micron sticker on it. Yes, this one is Micron (obviously).

I then purchased another 256 MB PC133 module from a different place online that said it was Micron. It did not have a Micron sticker on it when I received it.

Is there another way to tell if it really is Micron besides a sticker?

if the chips have MTxxxxxxxxxx (where x is a bunch of numbers) then it is micron.

Basically, "what Oyeve said" with one very rare caviat: sometimes PC100/PC133 Micron memory can be labelled from Texas Instruments - since Micron bought TI's memory division. But this is pretty rare nowadays.

The sticker probably indicates that the actual DIMM was assembled by Micron. The lack of the sticker probably means that a 3rd party assembled the DIMM using Micron's memory chips.

Oyeve: The chips do have an MT followed by a series of numbers on them. Looks like I lucked out! Thanks!

You can download and run Sandra Sisoft 2001 and one of the modules will identify each piece of RAM and give you the specs if you want hard-coded proof.

Sandra can only tell you what SPD says and not all SPD were created equal, depending on the manufacture.

on the other hand, you can check the the memory spec against the manufacture's website, provide that it's not remarked (very seldom now, since the price is so low...)
