>Twitter is useless, a fad, stupid, etc. etc.

Twitter has came out of nowhere, but I think its still in its fad stage.

Do you think, once the fad dies down, it'll be a serious form of communication/knowledge sharing? Will we rely on it the way we rely on email/im/social networking apps?

Yes, I'm not sure just how it will be used, but I think the technology will find a use and become important. I'm guessing it is going to find its use in more group situations then individual. But really I don?t understand it, and am starting to feel like my parents must when faced with IM/texting, they don?t get it either and think it is silly to write someone in real time when you could just call them and talk to them. So, I think we are getting old.

I caved in.
its important for my friends to know that i'm regular.
so, i will only twitter on the shitter.

Two words: "Nigg4 technology" (replace 4 with "a")

And for anyone wondering, I'm not racist (Google the term for the reference 😉).

Stupid. So now we have instant messager, text messages, blogs, AND twitter to communicate with friends/family?? It's ridiculous, but I can see how the attention craving masses between the ages of 8-28 love it. I'm just sick of the social networking populace we're expected to become. What ever happened to enjoying something by yourself? Is this why no one ever goes to movies alone? Do we really need someone, anyone to share even the littliest of things with ON THE GO too? Screw you, don't ever "tweet" me about how well your day is going, I could care less.

*Looks at sig. Clicks on YTMND's. Laugh's

I don't really understand it either. Do people expect you to "tweet" every time you change activities? 😕

Twitter's value is less about saying what you're doing and more about tracking the real time pulse of the internet as it relates to current or breaking events. Also it's a great two way communication tool for corporations to reach out to their customers about their brand

For example
Chris Brown
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=Chris+Brown+Rihanna

Brett Farve
http://search.twitter.com/search?q=brett+farve

Ah, so it's important for marketing whores and all other Admen? Bah.

Some dude in my WoW guild actually got direct help from Comcast due to something he posted on twitter. He said it was almost an immediate response. I read an article in Wired about it over the past week or so and it's true apparently Comcast is using it as a customer service medium so it's not all bad.

so as we all know that Comcast has one of the worst customer service departments of any corporation, they need to piggy back onto someone else's service to imply that they actually care?

Interesting, but still doesn't improve my opinion of Comcast.

I am always surprised at how inclusive ATOT can be. We're supposed to be a leading tech forum!

Branch out people... you might find something you like.

Is the site even profitable yet? Heck, isn't facebook still running off of VC funding?
