is it me, or is General Hardware dying?

People get tired of reading all teh problems.

I know personally I don't like going there anymore because everyone has problems and once they get it fixed, they leave the forums. I see plenty of people with under 20 posts trying to get help and I never see them again. That, and a lot of people are ungrateful. I see people helping them by posting links and they'll come back and say things like thanks for nothing.

I'm just tired of that cr@p.

EDIT: Same in Technical Support

LOL well what do yo expect, people can go to GH and read the latest installment in the AMD versus intel wars or they can come here and read your most enlightening FAQ on the proper use of the quote button. I mean heck Marty, there's no contest !!! :D

You're just noticing this?

;)

That's why I haven't been around much any more - what's the point? This place used to be rockin for computer help, advice, rumors, news, etc., now it's simply craptacular. :(

Yes, it has been slacking off for a long time now. I think more people have figured out how to use this.

There are alot of people asking for help, myself included, but i hardly ever see a helpfull response. its usualy just some boneheaded regurgitation of something some fool read somewhere. I know people want to help, but they should ask themselves before they post if they are truely knowlegable in the area of the question. For instance right now it is popular to blame any hardware problem on the user not owning a 5000000W PSU ;)

I have 2 complaints about GH forum

1. Tons of posts asking for opinions on hardware that has been thouroughly reviewed here and elsewhere.

2. Tons of posts that are very specific and belong in other forum categories. seems only the blatant OT ones actualy get locked/moved

I go there and the tech support group at least once a day. They have helped me out with more than my fair share of problems so I feel like I should a least try to help out a few other people.

You guys don't think the subscription thing had something to do with it?

I usually ask most my questions here unless it really should be under General Hardware, so I guess that could be it.

The forums have slowed down so much for non-subscribers, that it has significantly inhibited the posting abilities of many. ;)

I think ppl now just post their hardware questions in OT instead of in GH because they know more ppl will see it... I have seen an increase of hardware questions in OT as well...

It's gotten better again though.
I seem to hang out most in Software lately. Very slow, but interesting.
