Is it me or did Amazon do something stupid and get rid of the user submitted pictures

This is why you need user submitted photos.

Freaking lame. What idiots. User photos were a great feature. I uploaded quite a few myself. They've helped me a lot in purchasing products.

Amazon probably needs an entire department full time filtering out all the dicks that get uploaded.

Left feedback as well. What a dumb decision. The extra work required to make sure people don't sneak in inappropriate images pales in comparison to the immense helpfulness of the images for the consumer.

I hate nothing more than a product with one shitty "official" pic.

As a shopper, have you used customer uploaded images to make purchase decisions?
Frequently
Sometimes
Never
Unsure

Cr@ppy wording. Every answer should be no higher than "Sometimes" because most products don't have user pics so most purchases are naturally done without reviewing user pics. I make a lot of toilet paper purchases on amazon but have never seen user pics of it's effectiveness...thankfully.

Hopefully this is reinstated. I use them often when available and they can be very informative and helpful showing what the manufacturer or seller doesn't. They don't necessarily change my mind because all issues are explored in the reviews, but they help understanding the issues.

Bezos, I know you're listening.

Please bring back user submitted images.

I loved the images. It showed all the stuff about the product that the company didn't want you to see. Usually what goes wrong and how to fix it.

They still allow user submitted videos, which is quite silly if they don't allow images.

Wow that's too bad. Yeah I remember reading someone's review referencing his/her picture but the product didn't have any user-submitted pic. Thought it was a glitch at the time...

Crap! I wondered why one of my uploaded photos no longer existed. This is news to me.

Consumer photos are so helpful and revealing. I've learned not to trust the glamor shots put out by manufacturers.

I'm sure when a user posts a pic of your machete with the blade snapped into three pieces, it really kills any sales.

** oh wait, they're back! Just confirmed. My uploads are back.

Good.

So, was it their Marketing Department, or their Investor Relations department that made the call to remove them in the first place?

I've uploaded pictures when the stock photos don't show certain angles. I'm shocked at how many iPhone cases don't show the fucking buttons on the side.

I've submitted useful pictures with labels showing areas where the product looks different from the stock photos.

It was obviously my e-mail to Bezos, duh! :awe:
