Is it me, or are most tech jobs lenient?

i thought you were just posting about how your boss is a bastard bc he was giving you grief about your schedule due to all the time you want to take off for medical problems?

in tech, it's all about getting the job done. I'm a manager, and as long as the people who work for me get their jobs done that I assign them:

1. I don't micromanage
2. I don't care about their comings and goings.

edit, but I want to stress that if the job doesn't get done, I CRUSH THEM.

mine is

but since i voluntarily stay until midnight whenever necessary, it all comes out in the wash

Mine isn't as lenient as some people's here. My dress code is pretty lose, but I'm expected to be here on time and leave on time (no OT unless approved either). I'm not tracked during the day though so I can pretty much set my own schedule as long as I'm getting stuff done. I'm a lowly desktop support monkey though, so that explains a bit.

Software devel (in Boulder, CO, no less) is very lenient. I dress in jeans + tshirt most days and wear a hoodie if the office is cold. My work hours are usually about 10-6, but I'll sometimes cut out early, and other times work late. The thing is, since we're salaried we've got to make the deadlines, regardless of the hours we work, which is why I was coding until 5 am last night 🙂. That also means that I'm still at home today and it's 12:15. I'm thinking I'll grab some lunch and get there at about 1 and work a half day today.

Deadline driven > hourly.
