Is it me, or are bank CD's beating bond funds?

Total Bond Market Index fund

i think starting last year you could get a bank CD for 6%. the bond fund was only up 4.3% last year.

What am i missing?

CDs are fairly low, especially if just for a year or less. I don't believe CDs were up at 6% last year unless you were looking at half a decade or longer.

I just switched over a couple of 5 year CDs Saturday at 6.14%.
Just hope it gets even higher by mid-June when my largest matures!

Edit: Just checked my bank's website, they've dropped 5 year CDs to 5.75% now!
Oh well, that's still better than I'm getting on the other, ATM. Just hope they don't come down much more!
