Sometimes the quality of posts on this forum remind me of those kids who say "Walker" in the movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

In this thread, he posted a non sequitur and tried to be funny. He failed but there will be responses that agree (or concur) with him by members who don't understand simplest of communication skills.
Is Amerkia doomed to failure or will the Matrix save us?

Pretty sure 42 here is a little joke referring to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:
(from Wikipedia)
In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (published in 1979), the characters visit the legendary planet Magrathea, home to the now-collapsed planet building industry, and meet Slartibartfast, a planetary coastline designer who was responsible for the fjords of Norway. Through archival recordings, he relates the story of a race of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings who built a computer named Deep Thought to calculate the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. When the answer was revealed as 42, Deep Thought predicts that another computer, more powerful than itself would be made and designed by it to calculate the question for the answer. (Later on, referencing this, Adams would create a puzzle which could be approached in multiple ways, all yielding the answer 42.)

I think you need to back off a bit and not care so much about an off topic forum on the internet. Granted, the mods do a good job keeping the bullshit out of here, but off topic is off topic. If you are interested in a more sophisticated debate\discussion type environment then you might want to look for something that isn't called off topic. Maybe back in the day, before I was here, it was different here and people weren't hunting for lulz, but things on the internet tend to change, especially something as dynamic as a forum. This place is a product of free internet discussion and commentary. The crowd is going to change and people are going to say what they want. Sometimes even the more intelligent bunch needs to throw in an ORLY!? or an EXPLOSIVE LULZ!!!! every once and a while. So is it you? No, some might see a downward trend. Is the downward trend reflective of the education\intelligence one has while browsing a forum? Probably not. They probably just don't care.

Its cool man, its cool.

Oh noes! Some people are not living up to somebody elses high standards! What will we ever do? How will the world survive with rampant bad grammar and lack of communication skills?

Wow...
There are two things you can do here.
1. Close your eyes and do try to stomach the stupidity around you as best as you can.
2. Go on a crusade and chage the world.
Dare I say there is even a third option here!
3. Get over yourself.

Welcome to the Internets generation. Shorthand FTW. Grammar nazis FTL. I personally don't remember the last time I picked up a pen, even. It really is too bad. I'm a perfectionist and have my BA in COM. Most of my posts are edited because I can't stand glaring mistakes.

I think understanding things in general is dying. People will take 30 secs to wiki or google something and then try to go head to head with an expert.

P&N crowd degenerates to a race war now with a serious black candidate.

It has to do with no one growing up anymore and while a kid being taught you can do everything over until you pass/succeed

Besides the fact this is a thread regarding the use of slang either in verbal contact or internet contact you do realize Chris rarely posts a thread of his own? I believe the end of the world is coming and gas prices will drop back down to .99 cents.

My ex girlfriend spelled like a 4 year old on riddalin. It was painful at times reading what she had to say. The worst part is that she works in a financial firm where emailing upper management is commonplace. I think her grammar and spell check buttons are broken.

riddalin is a pretty bad misspelling there.

Is there a point where we adulterate the language so much that it becomes worthless?
Or will we all get so stupid that it all seems normal?

I'd say most of us are already there. You and I are excluded of course. ;)

If your panties are in a bunch over this why don't you quit being a fucking cry baby and do something about it? Instead of pointing and laughing at people who fail English while sitting on your ass in the front yard, why don't you correct them and tell them how to effectively apply their corrected English in everyday situations?

I think it's pretty clear that a big bloat like you gets all their self-confidence from these forums so I won't expect a change; but who knows, maybe the "Elite Member" title will encourage you to post something of content rather than the garbage you regularly put out.
