Does it take quite a bit of force to get a x2 stock heatpipe to lock in? As I was flipping the locking arm over to lock the heatsink down I thought I was gonna break something. I don't see how the motherboard bracket can handle this much pressure. I don't think all that pressure against the CPU is nessecary

I noticed the same thing on my three AMD rigs. I had a little concern when I had to install my HSF but after the first, I took it in stride.

Nothing to worry about.

The key thing is that the mechanism pots an even pressure on the chip and the mobo.

I had the same thing when I put in an Artic Freezer 64 Pro. I thought I was going to break something it was such a tight fit. But it all worked out in the end so I would say it's normal.
