I the first time I saw Uma was in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Anyone else remember this classic Terry Gilliam 80's movie?
I remember it. The opening was fantastic then the movie quickly became a muddled mess. The moon was painful.

Uma Thurman. She's one of those women in the public eye who can (and has!) looked so smoking hot it has made my knees buckle, but who also can be captured as looking a bit meh.

I've always been partial to her because she's real life smart, deep and interesting, the daughter of a professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies who snagged himself a German/Scandinavian high fashion model for a wife. Yee-ha! Life is extra good and interesting for some!

just watched gattaca and looked up who the leading lady was. uma thurman? i'd heard the name but never seen her before and to be honest i expected more.

Uma and I remain close (imaginary) friends. I can report that she was distressed that the noted diva of doggerel brianmanahan was not impressed with her:

^^^ Uma receiving that news.

Underrated hotness: Olivia Munn

From high up in the cheap seats, my enduring and unshakable impression of Olivia Munn is that she is weird. To me, she has often seemed uncomfortable in her own skin. She likes to blurt out things, often of a sexual nature, that seem to me at least to be her attempt to be funny or provocative, but just come across as creepy or at least lame . . . an attempt to mask her own discomfort. <shrug>

In some weird way, I find her to be the female analog to Will Ferrell . . . someone trying too damn hard to be funny/liked that they miss by a country mile.

Of course, both have had more success in their lives than I'll ever know, so there's that.😕

Will Ferrell will never be an Omnipotent Overlord.
In some sad conflatiion of irony and fantasy, I could see Ferrell playing my character in ATF: The Movie.

I don't like that I could see that, but there it is. 🙁

If Olivia Munn asks for the job, later Perk.
I have a feeling you'd say yes to anything Oivia Munn asked for.

Ha ha, yeah, that was truly sweet, thanks!

But it does support my underlying point that Hollywood production values have gotten so damn good that you could almost plug anyone into the lead, surround them with a cast of really talented extras, and jump cut and overdub and 25 take them to some sort of shiny simulacrum of polished perfection.

Anna Kendrick was nominated for a Best Actress Tony at age 13. You think Broadway is propping up "almost anyone" with overdubbing and 25 takes?

I remember Uma from Batman & Robin playing Poison Ivy. She looked smoking hot in that green jumpsuit. And who could forget her in Pulp Fiction or the Kill Bill films?

I've only seen Anna in pitch perfect, and on Hilton commercials. She is cute, but I don't see her doing much for Hollywood.

That's what makes her hot---SHE'S JUST LIKE ME!

I remember watching that when it was new, but it was a very long time ago. Had no idea Uma was in that--what was she maybe 16 or something?

...yeah right.

I know what you're up to, manahan! You watched season 3 of Stranger Things, thought to yourself, "My, who is that new cutie on the show? Man, she's got that...next door thing going on, my oh my do I feel creepy..."

Look her up on the google, discover she's the daughter of Uma and Ethan Hawke, and then post this thread to wash yourself of the creepiness. I know you, man!

IMO it's just you ... def used to be super-hot and while age DOES take its toll on everyone @ 49 she still looks good pointy-elbows and all!

Had to Google to see who Olivia Munn is ... attractive but not my cup of tea.

I would take her over Sarah Jessica Parker any day.

Talk about low-hanging fruit! 😛
