Is it just me or does Newegg not offer the deals it used to?

I'm getting sick of Newegg:

*Super-Slow Shipping (7-8 days for me in TN!!)
*Crappy/nonexistant Cust Service
*Charging way too much on many items, etc.

They've started using the idiotic and retarded DHL-->USPS shipping at least for small items. I can't figure out how it takes 8 days (yes, 8 DAYS) for a case fan to ship from Newegg to my house via DHL/USPS when someone from Newegg could have literally dropped the fan into a mailbox and I would've gotten it in 2 days. I think they must only use this for their free shipping option or something, because I don't recall having issues with the SSD or RAM I ordered from them earlier tis year (they had the cheapest prices available for these items).

I will still buy from Newegg, but it is no longer my unquestioned source for PC parts and my primary source, from now on, will be Amazon unless there is a large enough price difference to make me go back to Newegg. I'm a prime subscriber so the free shipping, coupled with my Amazon Rewards VISA giving me 3 pts for every dollar spent at Amazon, make it a slam dunk otherwise.

I see lots of expired deals and items with incorrect inventory or information now, it's like their website monitoring has gotten worse.

The last time I ordered from newegg, there was a rebate listed to save $50 on a kingston ssd, but after I received the order, I realized it had already expired before my order date. It was definitely my own fault for not checking the actual rebate before I bought the item, and it wasn't that big of a deal so I kept it. I'm just surprised the rebate doesn't automatically remove itself from the page when it expires.

new egg was never cheap. Prices are just standard, kinda like walmart lol The customer service sucks

bought a motherboard they ship the wrong manual, i really like my manuals, i email them and tell them. 5 days later they send me a link to the pdf. WTF They didnt ship what i ordered

Missisippi? Ark? LA, ?????

Connecticut. Closest MicroCenter is in New York, closest Fry's is god knows where. Without any decent B&M computer retailers nearby I have to buy online and NewEgg is usually cheaper. Plus NewEgg has a distribution center in New Jersey and gets just about everything here next day. They're not great, but they're the best available. I usually price shop NewEgg, Chief Value, ZZF, Directron, MWave, Amazon and others and NewEgg is the best deal more often than not.

Utter and pure bullshit. On a host things, MicroCenter is either cheaper or the same price as Newegg. If MC happens to be more expensive than Newegg on the same item, MC pricematches Newegg. And in the times I've wanted to PM w/another store at MC (which will PM Fry's, Newegg, Circuit City/TD/CompUSA group, BB, OM, OD, Staples), the employee would look up the item on the competitor's website, print out the page with the lower price and ensure the cashier was given the price....and that the manager was there to almost instantly approve it. And I've yet to have any PM turned down at MC, including power supplies, cases, motherboards, video cards, radiator, pump....you name it.

Add to that the convenience of returning a defective product and getting the new one in under 3 minutes instead of paying return shipping and waiting a week or two for the new item to get back to you......Newegg makes less and less sense.

So your childish rant is total fail.

What about sales tax?

newegg is done in my book, have been a loyal customer for over half a decade ,after waiting 2 weeks for a free shipping deal that was $2 more than amazon i went with the egg because my shipments never took more than 2-3 days even being on the opposite side of the country (NY) i am truly saddened that they have taken this route, amazon gets my biz from here on out..bye bye egg.. soo sooo sad

The great thing about Newegg is the website. Amazon's site sucks badly mainly due to the sorting feature being fairly useless. Amazon is great if you know exactly what you want and can put it in the search box. Newegg is much better for browsing and shopping.

They established themselves.

They are perfect when you need a specific component, and for peripherals. Their prices are usually competitive, if not the lowest. But there aren't many must-buy sales there anymore. Usually if you see a decent price drop on Newegg, it's for something like SSDs, which are dropping in price across the board everywhere.

Yeah, they have come back to the pack. Their website is still pretty awesome for looking at photos of an item, comparing things, plus they don't just delete old items from their database. But Amazon Prime shipping plus Microcenter in the area has hurt them. Plus they do take longer to ship now, and it's often that crap DHL Smartmail (I live in the Detroit area, apparently my local post office is in Chicago).

I fell in love with Microcenter a few months ago on my first visit.
It's like a giant toy store for geeks like me (and you guys) 🙂. Good deals, got a nice Phenom II X4 840 chip for cheap in my main build, enough processing power for all my needs.

Fry's was awesome, too, when I went to one in California last year.
It sucks that NY doesn't have Fry's. Microcenter is good, but it's a 45 minute drive for me, so I'll only go when I'm making an entire new build. Not convenient enough for a part or two. Newegg is still good for that. I'm lucky, as their NJ warehouse is less than an hour away from me.

MicroCenter is for when I am impatient and want stuff RIGHT NOW. I'm sure they make a lot of money off of tech enthusiasts because of that.

Rub it in, ya bastards... I don't have a Fry's OR a MicroCenter anywhere near me.

Northeast sucks for computer stores.

CompUSA wasn't the greatest, but when it and then Circuit City folded all we were left with was Best Buy 🙁

Need more Micro Centers.

It seems a lot of businesses that become big turn into a shadow of what they were when the operation was smaller.

First time I've heard of Micro Center, but no wonder, none are near me.

There's 2 Tiger Direct/CompUSA locations nearby, so generally if need by next day & price isn't too absurd in comparison, I'll order from there.

Have they just become so big that they figure they can charge prices that are no longer deals and get away with it for folks that don't live near a Microcenter or Fry's?

Pretty much this. It's the nature of capitalism. Out price the competition and run them out of business. When your competitors drop out and the field narrows you are free to raise prices and take more profits.

In my case, the only B&M's anywhere in the area are BestBuy and a few Radio Shacks.

Yeah, we have no MicroCenters or Frys here in the N.E.

I have both within about a 100 mile radius...but with gas over $4/gallon...it's usually not worth the cost of making the drive. Amazon or Newegg works out to be cheaper.
