in 2003 we got a lazy boy power recliner when my wife was pregnant. the mechanism still works to this day.

the only problem i had with them was the shady, lying sales guy.

EDIT: added the year we got it.

We got ours for the same reason in 2001. Still being used to this day... as much as humanly possible (by me). Only issues is where the cat scratched it up some (that cat is now dead... literally).

My dad has had one since 1988 and it's still in fantastic condition today, and comfortable.

Its NOT just you, they do actually carry overpriced POS. Possibly coming from the same Chinese factory as their next door elcheapo furniture store

Maybe i just got a lemon. Like a said though, I had a lazyboy that would work today and would be 6-8 years old, my mom threw it away. When I had it I abused the hell out of it.
Oh I am so surprised that Mister Libertarian Free-Market Utopian Anarchist still lives with mummy :D

Its just you.
I've had one for many years and its in great condition. Maybe yours was the exception that proves the rule or you abused it. They also have excellent warranties so you should have had it fixed or replaced at no cost after only 6 months.
