is it just me or does football require the least skill of all the major sports?

arguably, the only positions that require special set of skills are the QB and the kicker.
all the other positions rely on speed and strength/size, and soft hands for receivers.

it's not like baseball where you need eye hand coordination to hit or field/throw the ball.
or basketball where you need to dribble and shoot (except for shaq who relies on buldozing his way to the rim).
or hockey, where just getting on the ice without falling on your ass requires skill.
etc.

The only necessary skills are knowing how to setup and operate a dog fighting ring.

From the 4 years of Jr football, and 2 years of varsity in high school, i'd have to say it takes skill. Granted this is coming from me just playing high school. I never played college football, but I am sure it gets much more intense then what we did in high school.

The least skill imo is soccer, cmon, they run around kicking a ball ;).

You clearly don't know anything about football. Stick to your fat threads.

football is a very specialized sport. it's also the most taxing on an athlete's body too. calling it the "least skill" obviously is a little trollbaitish dont you think

skill is not the same as athletic ability.

There are a lot of fast and/or strong athletes who simply couldn't make it in the pros. For instance the track athletes that they try to turn into wide receivers, but they can't turn or catch.

why, cuz i'm right?
being athletic doesn't mean that you have the coordination to hit a curve ball or field a one hopper, or dribble/shoot a basketball.
you might be able to run around the base path pretty quick, but that's not skill.

Every time two players come into contact there is an intense battle for position that requires skill to beat the other player. If you think that all that is going on is two goats butting their heads together then you are wrong. Every aspect of the game requires skill to be successful.

Duh! being athletic doesn't mean that you have the coordination to run a route and catch a difficult pass.

yeah, you must've missed the part where i said it requires size, strength, speed, e.g. athletic ability, which is different from skill.
