I've been browsing the computer parts and electronics sections, and it seems like people are consistently bidding used items up to 80-90 % of retail in most cases.


That seems pretty crazy to me, used to be you could get good deals.
 
I just bought a Nexus 7 (gen 1) for $125, since the new model just came out you can find great deals on the gen 1 machines which I still consider a fast tablet (well, fast enough for me anyway)..
 
Yea thats about 50% of retail on that. Pretty decent for something 1 year old, I don't like tablets though 😛
 
I have never bought second hand electronics from ebay, the prices have always been shite. Still good for other stuff though.

Never has a better device been invented or ever will be invented to take to two places, Doctors appt. or the crapper.
 
Not a lot different than Gamestop selling used games for $50. Sure it's $10 cheaper but it's still some 84% of the new price. I have seen that on games several years old now. As long as it's "like new" Most people don't care and will rather save a few bucks over a new price. I guess it's just all in how you want to look at things.

Welcome to 5 (or more) years ago. I used to buy/sell on eBay a good bit, but it has turned into a storefront when you can buy something for the same as you can in a real store. Sense? None found, except that PayPal does give opportunities for international sellers. Last I checked you could still find decent deals on used music/games though.
 
Makes sense from a market point of view. The next cheapest option is retail price, so people are going to bid up close to the retail price.
 
International buyers can drive up the prices if their home market price is higher than US retail.

Also, PayPal can make your eBay experience a nightmare.
 
eBay charges 10%, PayPal charges 3%. It really isn't a way to make money anymore.

As far as computers, you can usually find refurbished deals through the manufacturers for better prices than used on eBay.
 
I usually only use it for specialty stuff from China usually, like USB to whatever adapters & such that I can't find on Amazon.
 
There are BIN deals on ebay the problem is they sell quickly.

You need to have a saved search set up with a notification on your phone to be competitive.
