When has it?

Good point! I used to hate updating anything on the servers I used to manage. No matter if it was the smallest bug fix or a huge update, nothing EVER went the way it was supposed to and spent hours, days, weeks getting things resolved sometimes. I know how it can get.

As unpleasant as it might seem, maybe they should consider wiping out a lot of old useless threads in OT and P&N.

I've been getting quite a few "database errors" today as well.

Methinks something's not quite right in Servertown...

I only notice things going slow when the IBM ad shows up, then everything about the page lags.

It is slower. That's because the Fix for the %/&#37 bug was to have all Posts Proofread through a Call Center in India....

You all need to get new computers or clean your windows installation. The forums have not been slow here lately.

No pun intended.

It seems actually slower than before the maintenance. I'm actually getting some database errors now when I didn't before. Maybe the maintenance didn't go as planned?

Me too.

On occasion after logging in, i get a blank screen with text that there is an database error and the admin is notified, well sort of similar text, i do not recall it exactly. After that i have to reload the anandtech forum from the ground up to get in again. I guess there are some issues that needs to be worked out. I am sure it will pass in time. After the transition to the new forum style i had login errors too. But after a month or so it worked fine. The only thing i also noticed is that lately the emoticons do not seem to be clickable at times as are some of the buttons and options from the editor (normal and advanced).

Not all of us can have supercomputers since we work at Google.
You do work at Google don't you?
Or was that a lie?

Yep. The ads are crushing my machine too. The IBM and Lowes ones are horrible.

Flash ads need to die a horrible death.

My CPU usage goes through the roof when I come to Anandtech forums now, drops to almost nothing when I leave. Is this part of the issue or another?

One thing I have noticed is that whenever that damn IBM ad appears, my performance drops drastically. The PC will stutter when I try to type, scrolling will stutter, etc. I think that was also reported earlier in this thread as well. I wish they'd remove that ad!

Yeah. I complained about that in the Firefox 4 beta 4 thread in the Windows Software forum, and they told me to get Adblock Plus. Boy, am I glad I did. The forums fly now! And no annoying IBM ad. (Sorry AT forums admins, the IBM ads were the straw that broke the camels, well my laptops, back.)

Is it even being discussed by the administrators? I never got a response to my thread about the IBM ad. I understand the purpose of ads, but some of them are annoying more for their performance impact than their content. The IBM one makes everything laggy and it shows up almost every page load.
