Is it just me or ARE the ANANDTECH FORUMS UNBEARABLY SLOW?

Perhaps this is a move to force everyone to become a subscriber ;)

I don't know but this is really annoying. You guys experiencing the same slowness?

I am a subscriber, but today it seemed that the subscriber servers were slower than usuall. May just be my imagination.

I'm a subscriber so it's not slow for me. However, the regular forums are TOO slow. IT is nonsense. I think that anand is scewing his own forum up by doing this. The forums should be usably for everyone but enhanced for subscribers. Not, unusable for every except subscribers.

I think that unless the bandwidth is increased AT is going to die a slow and painful death.

AT is a business. If businesses cannot remain profitable, they typically die slow & painful deaths.

i just wanted to remind myself why i subscribed. so i logged out.. let me tell you.. it's painfully slow. had to reload a few times just to get the forums list.. and timed out when i clicked on a thread. and the ads..

thank god im a subscriber.. :)

I wish they would just be fair and load the banners at the same speed as they do the forums. Its amazing how the banners ALWAYS load IMMEDIATELY, then it takes forever to load the actual forums. If you are going to cripple the free forums speed, at least make it so the banners load when the content loads..

The "Pay you cheapass" people are just annoying.. either offer a free usable forum, or make it 100% subscriber.. I would probably subscribe, but honestly I am so annoyed with the free forum speed I feel like I am being forced to subscribe, which just annoys me. Some people just choose not to pay for whatever reason, it doesn't mean they are cheap, it often means that there is simply not enough benefit in subscribing.. The forum speed annoys me, but when it gets so slow that its not usable I simply go elsewhere..

While the subscriber fees truly are cheap, I don't feel like subscribing simply because the Admin decides to cripple the forum speed. I like to feel like my money is going toward something I truly want to pay for. Besides that, the arrogant attitude of "The forums are the way they are so deal with it" that seems to be the standard response doesn't make me want to pay either.

But, thats just my opinion.. I'm sure the response will be "Then leave"... Well, I can tell you I spend considerably less time here than I used to..

The regular forums are way too slow. The speeds really suck on the regular forums. By the way, I am a subscriber, but the only reason is because of the speeds, they were way too slow.

Well that didn't work. I logged out and went over to the regular forums and found out how well they were loading and all, but when I tried to report my findings I couldn't post cause I wasn't logged in. Bummer!

I subscribed last night...It is SO worth the extra benefits you get from it (except PM's...nobody ever PM's me *whines* ;))

For most of the day pages have been loading in less than a second, now it's taking maybe 2 - 3 which is still amazing compared to most forums speed. Was worth my $12 (wanted to test it before going for a year)
