Is it just me, or are Rolls Royces/Bentleys freakin' ugly for the money?

Look at this.

2000 Bentley Arnage
Base Retail Price: $198,400 - $204,500

2000 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph
Base Retail Price: $214,500

2000 Rolls-Royce Park Ward
Base Retail Price: $254,500

2000 Bentley Continental
Base Retail Price: $275,400 - $315,400

2000 Bentley Azure
Base Retail Price: $335,400

2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche
Base Retail Price: $353,590

They're among the most hideous new vehicles I've ever seen, & they cost 1/4 million dollars! I'd much rather save myself a couple hundred grand & pick up an armored V12 BMW 7-series or a V12 Mercedes Benz SL-Class. Who the fvck pays $350,000 for a car that looks like it drove straight out of 1950's London?

They are the epitome of elegance.

I really like the Continental. Awesome car.

the new ones are ugly, yes, but check out the 1940's RollsRoyce PhantomII series. Those look classically cool.

Remember these cars are probably being marketed to like 70 year old men who think today's cars look like ass. This is also proven by how the only transmissions on the Bentleys are automatics.

You're paying for the name.. Many people drive a Benz or BMW, but you can say I drive a *nose pointed upwards* Rolls, hah!

I don't think those pictures do the cars justice. I happened to see in real life a Bentley Arnage and I thought it looked awesome.

<< Continental=tire melting torque. >>

Too bad the thing is probably about as heavy as a dump truck.

Looks goooood to me ;)

What rolls royce have is service, if you are driving somewhere out in the country and your car brakes down they will get a new car for you and get a helecopter to get you and fly you to the car you will have untill they repair your own car.

But neither the BMW nor the Mercedes pack a 400+ hp V8 like the Bentleys and Rolls Royce do. It's all about what's under the hood.

This car may be a Japanese sticker or two away from 400hp, but the
394Hp V8 powered BMW M5 would comfortably hand any Rolls or Bentley their
ass for a mere $70,000.

They also sport the beauty of inefficency. These are the only mass produced cars that aren't made on an assembly line.

Saabs may be ugly but they are sooo comfortable!!! You feel like sleeping inside them. I've sat in a SAAB and oh my..the leather seats were so soft and supple!

As for hte Bentley/Rolls Royce...they are on a totally different level from BMWs and MBs. They at the elite of luxury cars. They are not the worth the money..and the people who mostly drive them are probably chaffereurs or drivers for the people who own them.

Soulflare,

True but, you'll have to wait at least 1 year on a waiting list and pay a very healthy dealer markup to get an M5.

Judging by my current bank statement it's going to take a hell
of a lot more than that to get myself an M5.:p However, if I
did have that kind of money I'm sure I could find a slightly
used M5 in Toronto rather quickly.

Those things are gorgeous, truly classy cars. The only one I don't like much is the Silver Seraph, but the rest of them are pure class. And there's something about that BMW that puzzles me, a 326HP V12??? What's the point of having a V12 with only 326HP? You can get that kind of power with a V8, what's the point?

I think it's just you, Viper GTS.

These aren't cars. They're Rolls Royces & Bentleys.

True status symbols. If you are "old" money they get respect like almost no other car. Hand assembled and specially chosen woods and fabrics/hides and leather for the interior. No plastic where wood will do. Craftsmanship not seen in other producation-line sutomobiles.

If you need to worry about gas mileage you shouldn't consider one. It's pure opulence.

Genocide, you gotta look at the dyno chart for the V12. Power is everywhere. Push the gas, and vrooom. Don't gotta wait for the engine to spool up. Cruisin along and you gotta pass someone, and boom, you're off.

perry - I realize the torque benefits, but still I think that anything under 350HP for a V12 is well...bad! I'd rather take the torque and the Horsepower.

-EDIT- speaking of dyno charts, know where I can find one for that engine? I'm curious to see it.
