Kenji your're right........

Not very much lately. I hope it is just a dry spell. Maybe, just maybe this is the calm before the storm........ of good deals. I'm hoping things change when the big WinXP push starts.

Good deals get me so excited.

I've noticed the decline this year as well, but the best sign of the decline is the size of my credit card bill. And I am not complaining.

Ha! Ha! AU Tiger mentioning his CC balance as a guage of how the deals have evaporated got me to thinking.

My rebate spread sheet shows NO REBATES OUTSTANDING!! That shows the evaporation for me. That balance had been around $400 for the past two years!!

Stores just did what they needed to at the time. Getting these dirt cheap deals caused people who werent likely to trust a "virtual store" to just give in due to a great price. But now that the stores nabbed all the "highly suggestable" people like us into buying online then they quit offering hot deals as often.

Well, that and the "anandtech effect" of advertising a cheap item to get you into their store and hundreds of morons ordering out their whole stock so they can toss it on ebay. I think those are the jerks that turned the stores against us...

Whats even worse is that hot deals are being replaced by wannabe moderators. Shut the hell up already. If its going to be locked then let it be locked by a mod. Not some "in before lock" morons.

As the economy -- particularly the tech economy -- remains weak, the deals will be on the increase. I agree that the deals posted here have really deteriorated lately. Too much crap posted that I think is posted just by people addicted to posting deals. But what you have to consider is the overall picture of just how much prices have declined lately on some gear. Look at LCD panels; what we would've called a scalding deal 3 months ago is now regular retail price. And those prices are still coming down.

deals are less because during the internet boom companies were basically buying customers to gain market share and raise their value... that will never happen again, while you may have received a few deals then, all those deals were payed for by a lot of money that dumb investores laid out.

while the numerous obscene deals are a thing of the past, technology is cheaper overall - the price of CPUs and hard drives is cheap as hell.
