Or is the whole world only concerned about themselves? I'm starting this topic as a result of this thread.

My point is, our society is so litigious, suing for being fat from eating fast food, suing McDonalds for being burnt my coffee, etc. There's a crisis going on right now because Doctors are leaving certain states because their malpractice insurance is too high.

This decay of the moral fiber of our country is not good! Does anyone else not recognize this? I'm truly alarmed at how many people are telling the poster of the above thread to screw the business owner and salesman.

I've seen many posts on this board about making fraudulent insurance claims, trying to get out of traffic tickets that they admitted they were wrong, wanting to know if they can take advantage of a technicality to get out of it.

Far worse than a few law suits. If you're going to talk about "morals" you should talk about how the US government acts towards people outside the United States...your military is, after all, about to firebomb Baghdad, which has a population largely composed of people under the age of 14.

Look everyone! It's hagbard! He hates America! Clap for hagbard!

Nope, just you and your fellow hawks. Funny coming from people that slam other people for not going along with them.

Hagbard, the modern U.S. military GOES OUT OF ITS WAY to avoid civilian casualties unlike other that purposefully target civilian populations or terrorists that consider enemy civilians to also be enemy combatants.

Bullsh*t. You'll never know how many are killed, just like you don't know of the hundred thousand plus killed during the last Gulf War.

So the US is to blame for a dictator putting his people in harm's way because he invaded and proceeded to rape and pillage a neighboring country?

Now, are you talking about Saddam or Sharon?

Again:

Why is it you insist on turning every thread into a war thread. Hagbard, why don't you just start some of your own and then flame everybody that comes inside. It would be nice if we could have a thread or two that doesn't involve you and a couple of ATOT members bashing each other into the ground. I think you are far more aggressive than the American military!

Wait a second...you seriously aren't going to blame Iraq invading Kuwait on Ariel Sharon are you?

God! For invading his neigbours. There's little difference between Sharon and Saddam.

CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!

Yeah, go do some more reading you loser. Why do you think the Iraqis moved their long range missles near communities, schools, and mosques? Because they know how worried the U.S. is about civilian casualties. Why do you think Bin Laden released a radio message a month ago, telling Iraqis not to fight the U.S. in the desert, but in the streets? Because he knows that instead of bombs, we'd have to send in small tactical units to neutralize threats new civilian areas.

<--- Ignoring Hagbard from now on. At least when I disagree/debate with MoonBeam, Jahawkin, or others on this board..some form of logic is discussed.

Back on topic, I'll have to agree with Amused. The sense of entitlement and even the rise of the cult of the victim that has occured in the last 40-50 years in this country is truly amazing.

Hagbard - you quote absurd statistics and then post links to back them up. The problem is, you links don't back them up. The Iraqi government, which has every incentive to exaggerate only claims 2000 civilian casualties in the last war. You, however, claim hundreds of thousands.

My dictionary says "a bomb with incendiary effects". What do you think those bombs will do when they hit their targets?

You are such a fvcking idiot. If you knew anything about the military or ordnance you never would have said that. An incendiary device is specifically designed to burn something or start fires, like napalm, or white phosphorous. Under your idiotic definition, all bombs are incendiary devices.

Go away troll, no one cares about your views in this thread.:disgust:

In fairness, if Hagbard has to be on topic, so does everyone else right? It's easy to take pot shots at a member who has been told not to post in a thread
rolleye.gif

It's pretty obviously not just Americans. Look in any newspaper. Corruption here, corruption there. Everybody likes to take potshots at the US, but greed and corruption are a part of human nature. If there was a nation of people that was 100% moral and righteous, they would be able to live peacefully in s completely socialist utopia.

I don't see that existing anywhere.

That's because Saddam wiped out all the older folks with gas.

You must b nuts, I've seen people with Cadillacs. They're not happy. I think that if everyone in the world just drove a VW Bug then and only then will there be peace.

No no no. There will only be peace when everyone is taking public transportation fueled by love and good thoughts. 😀

There are no more law suits proportioned with the population then there was for the population 100 years ago.

You had 100 people in a town 100 years ago, you get maybe 2 lawsuits a year. 100 years later, you have 10,000,000 in the same town, what is that ? lik 20,000 lawsuits a year?

See my point?

no

you base this on what statistical evidence?? or is it purely wishful thinking?

Dude, sarcasm.. People put their lives into objects because they think that a new car or phat rims will make them happy and successful. You see it in advertising all the time. Its BS and it just makes people bitter and jaded. Real happiness comes from societal and family values, not a video card.

Every society, every generation, every individual has their own "immorality". The degree of immorality depends a lot on how affluent/insulated a society is from reality. Not to get too mamby-pamby, but it's like that scene in the movie Dogma, where the Angels suggest that the "sins" of the executives were caused by their lack of "fear". The old saying comes into play here: "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely".

I think saying there is a sense of entitlement is right on the money. I think people read in the paper about the guy who clipped $40,000 worth of coupons and tried to buy a new car with them, or multi-million dollar settlements for stupid stuff, and people really believe that businesses, especially big ones, can make a lottery winnery out of you.

Something needs to turn this country around. The fat bastards in this country don't realize how quickly their lives can change. I take nothing for granted after serving my time in the military, not even fresh potable water out of my faucet.

People need to see first hand just how quickly their lives will change without electricity or fresh running water. It's not inconceivable.

Hard work and looking out for your family and neighbors are what binds a society together, not trying to fvck them over to get yourself a deal or get rich from a jury verdict!!!!!!!! :disgust:

I agree. 61% of people in America are overweight. Obviously, we don't have to work hard to get food. We buy SUV's, computers, and go to the movies every weekend now. Life is almost so easy we do not appreciate what we have. When I was growing up, going to the movies was a treat. I had to work when I was 15 to help put food on the table and get myself a used car. I never had a lot of "stuff" but I was pretty content. Now I have more stuff but I don't feel like it makes me any happier.

And the fact we don't know our neighbors. I wanted to invite my next door neighbors over for a barbeque, but the rest of my family felt strongly otherwise. Why? What happened to the community when thousands of people are posting on BB's like this one and not talking to their next door neighbors and participating in town hall meetings?
