is it inappropriate to give a cop a xmas gift?

a police officier in my local pct did me a big favor this past summer. she really did the right thing by me. As it turned out, it just so happened that she did the right thing in the eyes of the law also.

To show her my appreciation, I got her some fancy cover almonds and some nice pink grapefruit soaps as a xmas gift. In the card I thank her again for what she did.

should I give her the gift and the card or is it questionable to give gifts to police?
should I just give her the card?

Give her the gift, but you really don't have to write a description of what happened in the card, especially if it's something she maybe shouldn't have done?
 
Perfectly fine. the donut shop I used to work at gave the beat cop that stopped in every night (yeah I know - stereotype, but honestly he never got donuts, just some coffee), a nice gift basket with a summer sausage and cheese. Provided it doesn't look like you are buying the cop, they can accept it just fine.

In the card I thank her again for what she did.

Replace that with "thanks for your dedication and service"
 
Give her the gift and the card, but the card shouldn't thank her for something she did. It should say something holiday-related.
 
There is one in my town I'd like to give a dick in a box to. She's a 10 about 24 5.7 and 100 lbs. I went to police range with some of her colleagues and saw her shooting a .22 that's what she carries becuase 9mm has too much recoil for her fine ass little armses.

I've had students give me bottles of whisky and Cuban cigars lol, first being elementary and 2nd being high school.
 
thanks for the replies, all the cards says is thanks, and that I will never forget what she did. I should change it to dedication and svc, but I sealed it already.
 
Just don't make it too expensive, say $20 or less, otherwise you put her in a position where she probably is required to decline the gift.

I think someone fed you a line. There's no way they would let her go out with a .22 and I doubt she'd be able to become a cop if she's that weak.

Most departments I've heard about won't let you go below a 9mm.

huh? I dunno who she is besides the fact that she is a police officer. To me, that is what she is.

what kind of half assed response was that anyway?

A note for future events - if you ever run into a situation where you'd like to express appreciation to an officer, one of the best ways to go about it is to send a letter to the chief/supervisor expressing your sentiment. Always nice to have an attaboy in your personnel file. 🙂
 
I totally read that wrong. I thought it asked if it was inappropriate to cop a feel as a xmas gift.
