we had one of those, but it was manual, with the hi/low shifter thing, so it was sorta like an 8 speed, but not really

i liked that car

Did your passengers ever mess with the pedals by sticking thier feet behind the A/C box?

it was an '82 4 door hatchback
i don't recall any shenanigans like that

I do it sometimes when I'm really pissed and stopped at a light. Never knew i could get in trouble for it. You learn something new everyday, heh.

you shouldn't get in trouble for it, but i think the cop could probably get you for "agressive driving" if he wanted to.

they're cops they do what they want, so anything they want can be illegal, because there are enough extremely broad laws that are open to interpretation that could apply to almost anything.

Depends on what kind of mood the cop is in.

Unless the cop is in a completely forgiving mood, you're probably going to get a ticket.

Nah, if you're not some punk kid I don't think the a cop would give you a second look.

HAHAHA, I probably would be classified as "some punk kid." I've done it a couple times in a Honda Accord, but there were no cops around.

could be construed as reckless driving

Reckless driving is usually given by a cop from a variety of different "infractions." You probably have to be doing excessive speeding and swerve by cars to get a report like reckless driving.

A kid at my old old high school in... 2002 got a ticket for "exibition of acceleration" or something equivilently as lame.

Was that on 75?

LOL yes! That's funny that you knew that

Seems like a good place for it 😉
And the state troopers on 75 seem a bit antsy.

That would depend on if you were driving a Geo Metro or a Pontiac GTO.

Given that I own a GTO, I can say that 0 to speedlimit usually takes about 2 seconds, tops.

Like notfred said, I don't think you'll have any issues with a Honda Accord. I take off like that all the time on my way too and from work, but it doesn't really look that out of the ordinary.
