A lady tells me that she was discussing this with Dell on the phone and they told her that digital cameras are programmed to recognize currency and not save the image to memory cards! :Q

I know modern scanners won't but cameras? That's bizarre.

I think you just set it to the gullible setting.

same sort of thing happens with nudies. like if you were to take a nude picture of yourself, then post it here on the intraweb, all we'd see is a black screen even though you'd see the real photo. don't believe me? test it!

it is true that some software will go nuts if you try to edit scans of money. Adobe has done this for years at the request of the Secret service. It is not, however, illegal.

I never heard of software not letting you edit money.
Then again I don't usually pay attention to such things.

Wasn't there a pic with money in it taken with a digital camera on this forum a couple months back?
The one regarding the cat that broke the laptop? Where everyone was saying the OP deliberately put a few $100s on the bedside desk to show off?

Why wouldn't you be able to take a picture of money? Forgery takes a lot more skill than it takes to make a digital copy of dollar bills o_O

LOL!! QFT!! I don't think it is illegal to photograph money but I do believe it is illegal to "reproduce" (i.e., copy machine, scanner) U.S. currency. Same for destroying coinage....when I was a kid I used to take pennies and put them in a bench vise and bend and crush them and mom said it was against the law and the cops would come and get me. She's also the one that said frogs would pee on me and make warts and all the cats I was mean to would come back and scratch my eyes out in my sleep. Huh!! What does she know???

***now I sit her, blindly typing on my braille keyboard, picking at my warts***
