Is it illegal to keep a knife or machete in the car?

Knife w/ blade under 3.5" is probably fine. Why do you need a machete? Have you considered getting a 12 tool Leatherman?

The pocket knife on my leatherman tool is very sharp.

i was going to say, a machete is a gardening tool, we used them
at a community garden workday to cut down sunflower plants.

but that knife, styling as it is, is not a gardening tool.

You have one big ass glove compartment box to be able to fit that. Emergencies? Or personal protection?

I remember a case in Massachusetts where someone was arrested for carrying a 3' sword, which actually turned out not to be illegal. However, municipal ordinances vary here-- in Boston IIRC you can't legally carry any sort of knife with a blade 3" or longer.

I know, I opened up a 3" gash on my palm once w/ the leatherman blade. It was nasty. Very fortunate I didn't impermanently damage any nerves, muscle or tendons.

When you get pulled over just tell the cop the "knife" is just for emergencies... Dragon related emergencies.

lmao, very funny.....

actually after re-examining it and trying to visualize holding an 11' knife in my hand..... man, that's pretty ridiculous. i had a lapse of judgment...... but you have to admit, that is a cool blade

sure for a collection its great. but for protection or actual use its a waste. there are far better knives to have.

Now THERE'S a man's knife. That thing is beautiful!

OP, do you even know how to use a knife, like in a fight? I sure as hell don't. You should probably think about that first. Or look into getting a gun, since I know there are a lot more gun enthusiasts than knife enthusiasts on ATOT :p

think this would good for him!

Umm, I don't think it is legal. My friend keeps a baseball bat in his trunk, and says he is careful to remember it is in there. If an officer or anyone asks, he says he uses it to keep his hood up, as the pneumatic springs are shot. Why exactly would you need something like that in your car anyhow? If you use it it will get you in trouble, and if you don't it still can. You're in a car- any trouble you run into you can drive away...

Hey, you never know, your car might break down out in the woods somewhere when the aliens land, or you might get attacked by zombies or something.

Why not just get a real knife instead of some Dungeons and Dragons bullshit?

keep it in your trunk, why do you need it in the glovebox what type of emergency are you anticipating?
Laws vary from state to state.
If you buy that thing you posted then I guess if your dressed an a fantasy character you could tell the police that you are on your way to some type on convention?

You had better have a concealed weapons permit if you intent on keeping it in there.

Not only that, what in the world are you going to do with a Machete? Have you been trained in its use? It would seem to me that getting a Concealed Weapons Permit along with a small firearm would be a lot more useful than that thing.

You can have a baseball bat in your trunk by the way. Why he feels the need to say that it holds up his trunk is beyond me. (I keep a baseball bat and softball bat, and my baseball bag in my car most of the time)

As long as you carry a baseball gloves and maybe some balls in the trunk along with the bat, it is fine. It shows that the intention of the bat is for sporting uses, rather than just a mysterious beating device.
