Is it good to exercise/workout when you are sick?

I feel like I am getting the flu. Body just feels tired and sluggish, coughing, nose is plugged. But I don't want to just lay around in bed. Is it better to just rest or go out and run/exercise to get my body going? Thanks!

No. Let your body fight it off. If you go and exercise, you will be more prone to catching other things. Get rest.

I'd have to go with a big NO on this one. TMK, exercising only weakens your immune system (during exercise and shortly after) and expends energy that could be used to rid your body of whatever sickness ails you.

Its generally recommended that you rest when you have a fever, but its okay if you have a mild cold.
But if you can't exert enough energy to have a good workout, then there's no point.. just wait a few days.

Thanks for the advice. I read that Lance Armstrong used to ride his bike when he had cancer, because he didnt want to just lay and waste away in bed. I thought maybe that would apply to colds/flu's, hahahaha.

No. And why would you want to?

If you go outside in bad weather with flu like symptoms, you could catch pneumonia.

I would not know how you would get the energy in the first place. I, personally, wouldn't be able to get out of bed with the flu or a fervor.

I've heard it wasn't too bad, provided you cut your routine way back so as to not overtax your body. Though in your case, I'd definetly not go outside for a run. Best to stay warm and dry in your case. Anyplace you have access to with tredmills?
