I'm thinking of setting up a web cam at my house so I can monitor my mother in law when she watches the kids. Is this a pretty easy task?
What brand would you recommend?

I want to do the same thing so that I can monitor my new puppy (aka Satan's Spawn)...
I would like to be able to view it at work...

I have WinXP Home on my home PC and a cheap p.o.s. Logitech webcam..

Any ideas/instructions/hints??

I can't use any Instant messaging client at work...so I would need to be able to do it without
using one yahoo, aim, etc...

I use to use netmeeting to monitor my room(dog specifically) while I was away. I know there is better more advanced software but netmeeting did the trick for me. Just remembered my IP started netmeeting whereever and connected with password and would see the picture.

WinXP has Netmeeting but its hidden. To run it just go to Start -> Run -> Type: conf (press enter) and the installation will begin. It's pretty much straight forward from there.

I have used the Legocam software with its motion detection capabilities to record activity in my apartment when I was, um, messing around. ;)

We are watching a co workers dog at home as I type this. Cheapo web cam, 2 Yahoo Messinger accounts. Very easy to set up and run.
