Is it easy to spot the characteristics of someone based on how they write/type?

Like their intelligence? Sometimes I notice that I write/type way slower than I think. Other times I notice my writings have a natural flow to them (or I try to make them so). My boss tends to have a lot of grammatical error in his writing but he somehow leaves them in there (and they get his point across). He's a natural businessman and is the shrewdest person I've ever met, a true asshole. Is there a correlation in writing and certain characteristics?

Edit- just saw you said write/type.

I think it's a healthy combination of how they write along with what they write. There's a whole lot of incredibly intelligent people that are simply processing so many things in their head that that write/type in some kind of psuedo cryptic coding. That's not to knock their intelligence. They simply can't communicate to others in a meaningful way.

They you have people like the unabomber that are able to write out an incredibly detailed manifest but are batshit crazy.

Then you have normal people like me that can write out thoughts halfway decent and able to get a point across.

Then you have the opposite of the spectrum which make up youtube commentors. There is no hope for them and most of the planet would be better if they were removed. :)

So to answer your question......you can kinda tell what kind of a person they are.

I'm not sure I completely understand the question.

Are you suggesting there is a correlation between speed of pen vs. speed of thought = some order of intelligence or lends to particular personality traits? Or are you implying grammar vs. content? And does content convey shrewdness or lack thereof? Or is it predicated upon grammatical errors instead. Can this be correlated to intelligence?

Could it be said that one who writes/types quickly and accurately is both intelligent and kind? Or would the opposite suggest shrewd and cunning and would you consider that a mark of intelligence in its own right - a cutthroat businessman as it were?

Does it make me an asshole if I misspell a lot or does it simply suggest that my fingers can't keep up with my mind?.. Does that make me any more or less intelligent? Or is it that I am a slower thinker and therefore of lesser intelligence if in fact I can type/write as fast as I think?...

While the Youtube comments are a dime a dozen, it'd be great if you could link examples of the others you mentioned...

Writing style is a product of intelligence, vocabulary, training, personality, and context. You really can't determine one of those without knowing the rest.

Terse smart guy? Short sentences.

Terse smart guy who relies too much on spell check? Short sentences, with spelling errors.

Dumb guy? Same short sentences, also with spelling errors.

Technical writer who spent 12 years in the Army reading field manuals? Short. Sentences. With. Bullet. Lists.

Terse guy with big vocabulary? Abbreviated verbiage.

Technical writer trying his hand at poetry? Disabbreviated verbiage on the nature of the inner spiritual designs of the #10 Nail, with an occasional ejaculation of French pour la saveur.

I don't know. That's why I'm asking. There's so many variables but I'm sure there's a pattern somewhere. There must be a study on this because I believe the FBI and some police departments analyze handwritings to see what type of person they're dealing with...

Often it comes down to 1 thing.

For individuals, some stuff maters and some stuff doesn't.

Concentrating on something that has little relevance to your trajectory is wasted concentration for most people.

there is obviously some correlation, though I would not consider assumptions based on analysis of writing styles to be very reliable.

i do hold certain beliefs though, like people who write sloppily (like headache inducing sloppy) are self-centered (as in they don't care about the reader).

I think that a persons writing does say something about him/her, especially in professional communications. I find that many of those I interact with have a short, to the point technical way to convey their message. Most of these people are engineers. I also find some people are much more direct in their language, which does say something about their personality. people that have a lot of grammatical mistakes seem to be less detail oriented, and people with lots of spelling mistakes may be too lazy to look something up, or may not be very computer literate. People who use text speak in professional communications are usually very young and immature.
