i'm getting cable broadband installed next week on this computer (a new network cards).

i may also soon get a complete new system, and an just concerned to whether or not transferring the connection is simple? do i just move the network card to the new pc, and plug in the cable to,it, and windows will simply recognise the connection there and it's sorted? or when i the guy installs the network card will he gimmia a cd to install some sort of driver. another thing i'm concerned about is, the system the cable will be installed to is windows 95 b, and the new one will have XP, will that cause problems?

am i just worrying about nothing?

i don't think it should be much trouble at all. i think all u really need to do is make sure ur pc is setup for DHCP. some isp's like comcast used to require ur computer to have an assigned computer name, but they have changed that policy now. they no longer give a crap... like most other isp's i know...

Transferring the connection, by moving the Plug is nothing.

However, that is only the first little step. You have to reinstall the network system and configured it in Win XP Pro, it is not difficult, but it has very little to do with the old computer installation, and you will be better off doing some reading.

The most important thing is to find from the installer what form of authentication (id, and or, password) is used. In most cases it is the MAC number of the NIC, so as long as you use the same NIC it should not be a problem, but make sure ahead of time.
