Is it difficult to learn how to write in graffiti (Palm OS font)?

I'm considering getting a PDA, I just want to know if it's difficult to learn how to write in graffiti?

Also is there a better Palm OS PDA in the $300 canadian ($200US) range than the Handspring Visor Deluxe?

I don't want a colour one, only black and white.
And I don't want Pocket PC OS, I've considered both and for what I want the device for I think Palm OS is better.

if you've got 10 minutes to learn, you'll be a master at graffiti.

No way... it's easy. I learned it in about 10mins too, and i haven't used graffiti in over a year, and i still know the alphabet (probably not as fast as before).

Picked it up in a couple of minutes....very easy, and most characters are intuitive.

Writing a "V" might be difficult with the standard pen stroke, so write it backwards instead....works every time. Otherwise, just about all of the other letters have no real problems.

The problem is remembering all the special characters....the Palm comes with a small cheat sheet that you can stick somewhere handy if you need it.

You don't even need a cheat sheet to carry around. Next time when you need some help, swipe the stylus from the bottom of the screen to the top in a straight line. A graffiti chart will pop up with all the possible characters.

Oh yeah...forgot about the "full stroke". I've set mine to backlight instead.

Piece of cake. :)

Imho, you can't do any better than a Visor Deluxe for that price. Might want to look at the Palm 105, as I believe it has a newer OS. But I believe it also has a smaller screen.

graffitti is easy to learn and there's plenty of help on-board if you forget. I can write almost as fast on my PDA as I can on paper.

I think the Visors look flimsy. I don't think they ARE flimsy, but they sure look like it. But then again, I have a Palm IIIe so what do I know...

Yeah the Palm M105 has Palm OS 3.5, the Visor Deluxe only has 3.1 and neither are upgradeable (but the upgradable ones are expensive). The Palm M105 also does have a smaller screen, and it has a Serial cradle not USB. However the Palm M105 has a handy little note pad where you can make notes in your own writing. But that probably saves as an image so uses a bunch of extra RAM. Besides, computer fonts are alot easier to read than my own writing :p. The Visor Deluxe also has the spring board port. Probably won't ever use it, but it would be cool to know I *could*. :D

The Visor Deluxe vs M105 is pretty close, I have to go in favour of the bigger screen though.

Yeah it is easy to pick up graffiti. Go to Compusa and play with a palm for 5 minutes and you'll have learned and remembered how to write.

I own a Visor Deluxe, and I just used another guy's m105. I didn't think the smaller screen would be a big deal... But it just seemed tiny to me, after being used to the Visor.
