I got a new HSF tonight and went to install it on my 1 GHZ Tbird in a K7S5A mobo. Well, the screwdriver slipped and I hit the mobo with it. I held my breath. The new HSF was on but I was leery.

I powered up the system and the fan spun, my CDROM showed activity but never got anything on the monitor. Also, no HD activity.

Did I kill it?
 
It's dead Jim.

Well, I dunno you case but most people who've done that ended up with cut traces on the mobo. (Don't forget that the mobo is multi-layered - you can have damage that isn't visible.)
