haha aquaman has been recognized for his work

My instinct told me this was a parody thread, 600 magazines.. vs 1200 dvd's.. but i guess you're serious..
I wouldn't do it, it's not worth it as via cost effective/time effective. as stated above by many other people.

why bother? as said the real dl discs are costly. normal discs aren't real backups unless you copy the plain files as a "backup" over two discs and cannot playback without restoring to hd or dl disk. you'd need 2400 discs..your talking atleast 700 dollars worth of dvdr:p

hd dvd will come out sooner or later and make ur collection worthless anyways. pointless. i've stopped growing my collection. i just rent.

do you deep analyze? if you don't yeah, that's what it takes but deep analyzing improves image quality.
I deep analyze, and it only takes me about 40 min. to copy and comress a dvd  he must have a slow machine.

waste of time. if he has nothing better to do like, say, hanging out with his friends, then tell him to go for it. it would only cost him about $800 and a whole lot of time to back up his 1200 dvd's. the time wasted alone is enough reason for him just to replace the damaged dvd with a brand new one at $20.
