I build my first system with these specs:
core i5-2500k
asus p8z68-V mobo
8GB gskill 1600 MHz cas9
intel 510 ssd 120GB
cooler master cm690 II case
and corsair TX650 V2 psu

At firts i made a mistake when i put in the mobo, connected everything but it wouldnt turn on, it turns out it was making a short with the case somewhere. I dissasembled and assembled again and it worked fine for about 2 weeks (the only rare thing was that the mobo didn't hold bios values when disconnected from AC).
Yesterday the computer just shut off and wouldn't turn back on, it didn't have any smell or anything. I tried another psu and it worked, so now my psu is dead... Is it common for a psu to work 2 weeks and then die suddenly? or maybe my mobo was "broken" after my mistake when i assembled it?

I don't want to buy another psu if it is possibly my mobo that killed the first one...

Your CMOS battery is practically brand new, so you shouldn't be reverting to default BIOS settings when unplugged from the wall. It could be you got a bad CMOS battery, but I assume that would be very rare.

This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the mobo itself. But it could be that there is still something wrong with the install of the mobo, and you need to tear down again. You might want to start by hooking up the bare essentials outside the case with the Corsair, see if that works. But first try the paperclip test with the PSU, make sure it's actually dead.

i allready did the paperclip test, the psu it's definitely dead. With the other psu worked fine, but it's a cheap unit and won't power the system very well. I checked the voltage of the CMOS battery and it gave around 3.2 V, so i think it's fine.
Do you think that a bad mobo can kill a brand new psu? or i was just unlucky and got a bad unit? because psus are really expensive in my country i don't want to risk another one if it's probably my mobo what caused the problem... i would just buy again the psu AND mobo if there is a chance that happened

Nah, not likely the mobo. The V2 has had its fair share (or more) of dying units. You should have at least four more years of warranty left on it, call 888-222-4346 and RMA the thing.

im going to try and see if the seller recognice it but i doubt it, thats the problem when the manufacturer doesnt have a oficial dealer in the country... do you think i should go for a xfx core 650? i know its the same as the tx650 but right now im really pissed of with corsair, i think the other one thats available its a thermaltake unit, but i dont remember the exact model

He should recognize the receipt.

Yes, the XFX Core series 650 is also a Seasonic unit, just like your Corsair. But because you are well within warranty, if you take the time to RMA the unit, you may end up not being pissed with Corsair. Some people say they like taking care of their customers.

Regardless of which model it is, avoid Thermaltake.
