Is it bad to use fuel injector cleaner?

I poured a bottle of injector cleaner to my gas tank in a afternoon, with the tank half full. After one hour driving, the idling speed of the engine becomes very high, blue smoke came from the pipe. After another one hour, everyone backed to normal.

Is that bad?

I run a bottle of injector cleaner through my engine at every oill change. I usually buy the Valvoline or the DuraLube. The best way to use it is to carry it with you until you need to fill up with gas. Empty the can of injector cleaner into the almost empty gas tank and then fill it with gas, this way you make sure the cleaner is fully mixed with the gasoline.

And out of what part of your arse did you pull this? Your statement is completely false. I use it im my SHO and I used to use it in my Turbo Eclipse. The only possible way it could be detrimental to HiPo cars is if the cleaner somehow lowered the octane rating of the fuel, which it doesn't. If you are worried then just drive a little more conservatively on the tank of gas you use the cleaner. I build a lot of engines and it is easy to tell, upon teardown, the ones that used injector/fuel system cleaner as the valves are much cleaner and free of buildup.

I tried a can of that 104 crap and it trashed my plugs and egr valve..the guy at kragen said numerous other people complained about similar results. Never again. EGR valve was a nuckle buster bish.

Unfortunately that can happen when you try to clean out a really dirty engine. When the gunk loosens up, there's so much that it may collect on other parts on its way out. But at
least it shows that it's working 😉

I'm sure it's not very helpful if you don't have a fuel-injected engine. 🙂
Although I guess it wouldn't do any harm...

No, it's fine. I'm not sure how effective the stuff you mix with the gas is. If you use it regularly then it probably helps. On my old engine I had my mechanic do a real cleaning. He had a can of stuff that you hook directly into the fuel line and run the engine straight off of. It cleans the whole engine, not just the injectors. Said you couldn't even see across the alley for all the black smoke that came out when he started it. At least it got rid of the carbon deposits though.
