Is it bad to install RC5 on computer without owners knowledge?

I can get to a school's network because I have the administrators password. The school has about 3000 computers on campus and I can access all of them. Is this frowned upon? Can TA get in trouble for this? I would hate to get you guys in trouble.

It is strictly forbidden. But, why not ask? All they can do is say no.

Actually, my brother was the old admin and he started another job somewhere else. He still says the password is the same and he thinks he know the new guy in charge. I'll get mu bro to talk to him. I'll keep my fingers crossed. He said that there are about 3000 computers with the average being about 400Mhz. I could finally have a heard.

It will be very tempting to load the client on machines that you don't have express permission to do so. But please, please, please don't do that as it will not only jeopardize you, possibly opening yourself up to legal action, but could also undermine Team Anandtech.

If you need any help putting together a letter asking for permission and convincing people to load the client, ask around here. There are several people who could be of help in that area.

Just got email from my brother and he is going to talk to the new admin on monday. He doesn't know if she'll do it but it's worth a shot.

I hope you get it the right way. That would be one hell of a herd and poo all over the DPC! ;) Do you want me to send you one example of the recruiting PM I use, in case some useful tidbit is in there?

Woah, you have some good connections!:D Using the worst case senerio of them being K6-2s, you'll still generate 650K blocks/day, and the best(and other other case;)) is P2 class CPUs, which is 1mil blocks/day. Good luck man!:D

Assuming the machines are 24/7 and P2 that would be 1.08M blocks/day.

Damn, bad news. My brother talked to her and she's not up to it. She just started and she wants to get a graspe on things before she changes anything. She said to call her in a couple of weeks and she think about. The only good news is that my brother is going to assimilate a couple of computers from his new job. Not much but every little bit counts.
