IS IT BAD TO HAVE YOUR HT (or whatever) AT 4X INSTEAD OF 5X?

im trying to overclock and its more stable with 4x, but what does that do? (which is more benificial to the X2 chip?)

im at 232 FSB with 1.47 volts
RAM is at 2-3-2-5 1T timings @ 196mhz @ 2.8v
11x multi
4x HT

also, my bios voltage caculations and memory speed calculations differ from CPU-Z, which should i trust?

It doesn't hurt anything. As a matter of fact, you pretty much need to lower it if you are overclocking. The HTT is generaly not stable at above 1000mhz, so if you have your FSB over 200..you need to lower the multiplier to 4x, if you go above 250mhz, you need to have it at 3x. CPU-Z isn't always accurate, and software voltage readings are almost never accurate. What divider are you using for your memory?

You will notice 0 difference at all between running at the htt multi at 5x, 4x, or 3x. I would suggest setting it to 3x, and bumping the FSB up more ;)

Agreed. I have mine set at 3x with a 300 HTT so I can get 2.7 GHz on my E3 Venice 3000+.

4x is fine.

as for the voltage, the only accurate way to measure it is to get a multimeter and physically measure it yourself.

here ya go

like shim said, you really need to check volts with a multi. mine read .03 low in the bios and .06 in windows compared to what i actually set.

you want your pci-e to stay at 100, and pci to stay at 33, otherwise you can really screw up your computer, and it offers no performance gain.
